1 in 8 Billion is a life simulator in your browser that plunges you into the unexpected realm of life, with the actual population distributions of the planet and your actions as the basis. Instead of selecting personalized backgrounds, you are randomly assigned a nationality and family situation, and you are forced to survive the whims of life from birth to old age.
Every replay unfolds at its own pace, from the rapid-fire episodes of youth to the sober, drawn-out decisions of adulthood. You react to both real-world and personal spontaneity across decades while you watch fluid stats like health, knowledge, and happiness.
Focusing on those stats is the bulk of 1 in 8 Billion. You'll have to juggle education, work, and relationships, all the while remembering that you won't control everything. Players can just click through each life stage or turn it to auto and see the randomly created life they had some experiences in.
You must overcome the odds of being born in one of 172 countries. You look at your starting point, which is mostly determined by demographic and economic factors, and develop a realistic plan of attack in an upward direction. Other unpredictable events will sneak into your life that might take precedence over particular measures in your life. Whether it be higher education, good relationships, or just happiness, they are all choices that have long-term implications until death of the character.
For this simulator to work, the workstation will need some really intuitive inputs.
